How can I preserve 4:3 picture aspect ratio when transferring from VHS to DVD?

I have recorded an old VHS tape using Rescue your videotapes V4.0.  The original recording was in 4:3.  The DVD plays in 16:9.  I would like to see the DVD in 4:3 exactly as the original VHS tape was.  Can I do this? I am playing the DVD on a Blue Ray player.

deebee23,

I don't have your Rescue program, but the Magix video editors I've used all have a movie (or project) setting for aspect ratio. I usually make my setting when I first capture video from my camera, but you can change it during export as well.

A second issue my be your player. The one I use has a menu option to override the format information that is recorded on the disc.

You will of course have black bands on either side for your 4:3 image -- reverse letterboxing!
