How can I get the maximun resolution from a SONY Digital 8? It has 1394 fire wire but resolution is poor when the video is Imported

I conected the camera with a 1394 cable. When the video is imported the resolution is not good. How can I import the video with the same quality that I have in the camera?

Hi,

Digital capture of DV material via FireWire wouldn't really lead to any quality loss. Maybe what you perceive as low quality is just the way the material is displayed in the preview mode of the program. The result will probably be fine. You might want to check the program settings to see whether the preview mode is configured to work with very low quality settings/resolution. This is usually done for the sake of real-time preview performance. However, if you're just working with standard definition DV material on a system of today's specs, you're pretty unlikely to ever run into performance problems. So, you might as well increase the quality settings.
