How can I get the keyboard provided by Magix Music Maker 17 to play the provided instruments the program offers?

I just bought Magix Music Maker 17 (not the premium version).  I'd like to be able to play some music with the intruments (piano/saxophone/etc.) that the program offers using the mouse/keypad operated keyboard that the program is equipped with.  However, I can't seem to make a sound.  I can select instruments, (at least I think that I'm selecting the instruments) in the top left portion and I can bring up the keyboard, but when I hit the keys, there's no sound.

I doubt that this has anything to do with my computer's capabilities, because the sample beats, synthesizers and other options produce sound.  Then again if I knew what I was talking about, I wouldn't be asking for help.  Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but all that I want to do is just play a few instrumental sounds.

Just to make this clear, I'd like to add for good measure that I'm not trying to hook an instrument/keyboard into the computer.  I'm trying to use the keyboard and instruments that are already in the software.  Any help will be appreciated.  Thank you.

Hi,

Make a test :

Drag Vita VST on a track.

1 -  Are you able to listen the default notes playing (piano)? If YES, it works.

2 - In the MIDI editor, the vertical piano keyboard on the left side is only dedicated to test a sound, not to define/write a note. To record/write  a note in the MIDI editor you have several means :

. to draw it with the pencil (select icon) in the MIDI editor

. to use your QWERTY keyboard : Q, W, E, R, T, Y.... each case is assigned to a note (restricted)

. to plug a master MIDI keyboard.

3 - Nota : depending on the instrument you select, brass/trombone by exemple, all the notes cannot be played, because the range of a trombone is not the same as a piano like in the real world. C1 can be played, C0 cannot. You have to find the right area with the lift.
