Try this: Instead of using one of the resolution/size presets for the selected screen area you want to record, use the customize function and select the captured section manually. Experiment a little with this. I also get a jerky recording sometimes for no apparent reason. My system was always the same and my performance should be sufficient. But most of the time it just works without any problems.
