Hi,

Your question is not clear, by Record, do you mean LP (record) or recording.

If recording and you want to use effect on single object just put cursor on the desired part of object(audio) then double click it and use audio effect rack. Or use right click mouse and choose from menu or on the left side of the track where Solo, Mute, Rec and FX is written, you have to use FX.
