HDR Gamma in Video Pro X7

Bluelake56 wrote on 3/28/2016, 9:09 AM

I can't use de HDR Gamma effect in video Pro X7.

Each time i move the slider, the video becomes simply dark.

It's the same darkness from position 1 to 100 of the slider.

If I touch the HDR blur slider, the same happens.

I'm on Windows 10. I used X7 on an older computer under Windows 7 and it worked fine.

Anyone has an idea ?

Thanks.

Hi,

See this recent thread in the Forum under MEP. Problems were with both MEP and VPX7.

Hi

Please list the specs. of your new PC. Are you using only the integrated Intel HD graphics? (see my comments in the link John C.B. has posted below).

Please report the problem to Magix support as soon as possible and we might be able to get something done about it.

Thanks.

Peter

Thanks for your answers, it made me take a look at the settings and I could solve my problem !

Under settings/display options, video mode was on "standard mode, hardware accelaration".

If I switch to "compatibility mode" or "alternative mode 2" the problem is solved.

This is the same either when I choose HD Graphics 530 or Nvidia GTX 960M, it just doesn't work with "standard mode" and works with the other modes.

Now the problem is that if I don't choose "standard mode" my video skips... but it's not so bad as I can solve it reducing playback resolution.

I had reported the problem to the support. They made me run a program called syscheck and then I had no news . When I wrote back, they answered my ticket was closed...so that's why I posted here.

Thanks again !

Hi

When I wrote back, they answered my ticket was closed...so that's why I posted here.

That was pretty poor of them. Did you ask why they closed it?

Now the problem is that if I don't choose "standard mode" my video skips...

That is why I do not consider disabling "Hardware Acceleration for preview" a satisfactory solution.

The workaround I am using is to open "New Blue Effects > Auto Contrast " and then immediately close it without applying any preset effect to the clip, before applying the HDR effect.

Hello,

I don't have "new blue effects", so I can't try this trick.

I can confirm what you say in the other thread, ticking DX 9 solves the problem. However I didn't understand what I am loosing compared to DX 12, what are thes "scopes" in VPX ?

Thanks.

Hi

The hardware accelertation of many of the Magix effects have been optimised for DX12, meaning they will make better use of a DX12 capable GPU during preview, for a smoother playback than with DX9.

The "Scopes" are the measuring tools in VPX like the Vectorscope and Waveform monitor, etc. whose display is apparentlly now dependent on the same driver components that may be causing the HDR not to function correctly. IOW the graphical display of the video levels is not possible when "Use DX9"is selected.
