Grouping Multiple Projects on one Slideshow

HH-Tom wrote on 10/26/2023, 7:39 AM

Hi, I am new to Photostory Deluxe 2024. I only seem to be able to create projects. I have a pretty big family archive project and I want to make multiple slideshows for different events and time periods, then bring them all together in one big show at the end. Since I only seem to be saving projects, it doesn't look like I am able to save multiple projects into one show. This may be a fundamental questions and probably attributed to user-error :) Thanks

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

In either Timeline or Storyboard views it is possible to create multiple projects which can then be exported or burned to DVD. See the screenshot below (in Timeline view) and the highlighted "+" sign. Clicking it enables you to add a new project to an existing one.

Clearly, if you intend to burn multiple slideshows to DVD or even Blu-ray disc there is a maximum size of data that can be burned to one disc.

If you wish to export multiple shows to a single mp4 I don't think you can. You would need to export each one as a separate file.

@HH-Tom

Hi,

Photostory, like Magix Movie Studio (and the same program with the old name Movie Edit Pro), are multi-timeline programs. They are called Slideshows in the Photostory, Movies in Movie Studio. See the manual, last part of the Introduction chapter for definitions.

You can create multiple Slideshows as shown in the image below by clicking on the + beside the Slideshow name. Click on the dropdown button and look at the menu options.

Thus you can create separate Slideshows within the same projects. You can copy/paste objects, even everything, from one Slideshow to another. You can export/import Slideshows.

You can also add a separate project into your open project by going to File, Open, selecting your Project to open, and you'll get the following message:

Select Add new project and it will be opened as another Slideshow within the open project. In the image below, I opened the Test 2022-05-28 project into my Seasons project.

If that project happens to have multiple Slideshows, they will all be opened as separate Slideshows.

Edit: I see that Jeff beat me to it again.
