Hi.

I would change power supply. Doubts about the one you chose.

Corsair TX850M 80 PLUS Bronze Certified 850 Watts Powerful enough for the graphics cards, CPU and some drives but more reliable. Cheaper.

Also never really heard of the NVMe drive. For a C: drive it doesn't have to be the fastest, I would prefer to have the fastest drive for the project drive. I would be more concerned with reliability and life span. Doesn't mean your choice is not good. I just have no idea.

Otherwise, seems OK.

Unfortunately, the power supply is required because the configuration includes 8 sata 3 drives and a controller for 3 blueray drives will be installed additionally. With an efficient graphics card that I will buy, I may need to have a power reserve in the future. But I wonder what will be better? Should you stick to the old configuration and buy a new graphics card for the prock i7 4790K? Which will be the better choice. What configuration will be ideal for Magix Pro X 13 not to cause problems for me. I want to invest, but someone from the Magix support cannot write what will be the best set.

As a matter of policy Magix do not make recommendations on specific hardware - there are simply too many possible combinations and configurations. The minimum requirements to run VPX 13 can be found here.

Are you using the 8 SATA drives as individual drives or as a RAID 5 array?

Assuming the 8 SATA drives are Hard Drives (not SSD) the load you are putting on the PSU I would suggest the EVGA SuperNova 1500W NEX1500 80 Plus Gold powerpack as a better alternative to the Polaris you have listed.

I have 5 discs for video backup and 3 SSDs. Calculating the total power consumption of the entire set and connecting to the set working to the maximum, I determined the power consumption at 547 Watts. I prefer a little more power, let there be no unpleasant surprises for me. The computer runs for 3-4 days non-stop. Maybe you know what will be better useful. Whether a new card for an old set or a new computer set and an old graphics card. What do you think about it?

You think so? I don't know what plays the main role in Magix, whether the processor or the GPU. I am using Neat Video which mainly uses GPU for rendering. I really don't know what to choose ....

@Pawel-Rybinski

Basically, it boils down to this:

i5 New computer

Processor Graphics ‡Intel® UHD Graphics 770/Graphics Base Frequency300 MHz/Graphics Max Dynamic Frequency1.45 GHz

plus

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 GAMING OC 12GB card (no card mentioned so I assume you can fit this one)

or

i7 old computer

Processor Graphics ‡Intel® HD Graphics 4600/Graphics Base Frequency 350 MHz/Graphics Max Dynamic Frequency 1.25 GHz

and

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060

@CubeAce @johnebaker

Surely the new machine is the better option (because of the onboard iGPU)? Noted that JohnEB has suggested this

Any testers with Neat Video to see what it uses? It is a real hog so faster the better.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

Sorry, I was assuming that all of the list were proposed parts to be upgraded. Not a list to chose just one or two components, so I assumed the CPU motherboard was a part of the whole upgrade. It's what I've done myself in the past just keeping the required drives or power supply if possible with case, fans, DVD / Blu-Ray etc.

There is no way I would consider keeping the old motherboard CPU etc, but a case can get quite expensive now and if usable I would use it. I would also add a good CPU heat sink to that list.

Neat Video will use the RTX 3060 in both computers so there will not be a significant change in the rendering time for those sections where the effect is applied, however, there are some effects which would benefit from the Intel GPU, which in the old computer are using the CPU (the HD4600 cannot be used), and any other 3rd party effects that you have that are CPU based would benefit from the faster processor.

I presume you would be transferring the RTX 3060 from the old computer to the new.

In the new configuration I wanted to use the old GTX 1060 card. Generally I'm afraid because I don't know what will be more stable with x13. At the moment I'm working on X12 because x13 has a lot of bugs. I want to buy a configuration that causes me as few problems as possible. For me, it is incomprehensible that the support does not want to write a configuration for me, they test the program the most and on which it can work stably. This is a clear misunderstanding for me. After all, what am I supposed to be a beta tester of the program I'm paying for? What do you say?

Why is that? By that logic the program should still be able to use an nvidia GTX 1030 and fourth generation CPUs.

Any new program will be written for the latest components and operating systems, codecs etc, available as older technology support from the manufacturers gets dropped and components get more powerful. Yes the program has had possibly more bugs than it should have for an initial release. The same can be said of Microsoft or Android operating systems from time to time as components diversify in what is essentially an open market of development. AMD use very different configurations to their electronics than Intel of nvidia. Not to mention keeping up with the demand from buying a new camera with higher definition / resolution/ enabled codecs, that would require newer software to cope.

Yes we are all beta testers now. It's the age we live in generally and the result of consumerism and the expectation there will always be something newer, better and shinier out their, but none of us are forced to buy it.

I understand and partially agree with you. I wanted the software to be stable and fast enough to cause me as little trouble as possible. That's why I once wrote to the Magix bottom bracket and asked them to write me the configuration they use, then I will be able to solve any problems with their soft faster. In this thread, I mainly want someone to suggest what will work better with the latest X13 soft. Which configuration will work better. As for beta testers, regardless of whether it is Windows or Android, it is unacceptable. It's like selling someone a car in which, depending on the configuration, the brakes work sometimes and sometimes not. I was hoping that maybe some of you are working properly x13 and you will share your configuration with me. For me, unfortunately x13 is not usable. It is so tragically unstable that it can turn off several times during assembly. Since April, probably when the new x13 version came out, I am running on the old x12 software. Write about your experience with x13 and maybe there is a special setup to improve stability.

CubeAce wrote on 4/20/2022, 3:24 PM

@Pawel-Rybinski

Unfortunately those types of things do happen to cars as well. How many recalled cars have their been over faulty airbags, ECUs that put a car into limp mode on a motorway, wiring looms and heaters that catch fire etc?

I don't disagree that VPX 13 release was premature at the very least but no-one has to upgrade. VPX 12 is totally usable for most people with still a few unresolved issues that won't effect many people but 13 is probably more to do with getting product ready for those wishing to go on to using Win 11.

I am not running VPX 13 because of the problems. I have VPX 12 and MEP 2022 just to see what the teething problems were. To be honest, if the hardware is up to it there are much fewer problems now, but with my computer specs I don't expect it to run as smoothly as 2021 purely because each new release means the need for newer components. The nvidia 30 series are now out and the benchmark for all newer graphics cards meaning a lower end 30 series is much more capable than a higher end 10 series. Tech changes at an alarming pace within computing, as does the tech within cameras and phones. If you shoot 8K on your phone you probably want your editor to keep up.

If you look at the forum postings a lot you may notice more people suffer aggravation on average when using lower end AMD components than a mixture of Intel and nvidia ones. Why is complicated and seems a decision only Magix could answer fully if it wanted to but the rendering engines seem to reply more on Intel and nvidia solutions than AMD ones. The specs for the programs are on the Magix website and clearly state that they are minimum specs and should be exceeded wherever possible. That means take notice of all components listed, not just one or two. So inboard GPU graphics with an additional GPU, not one or the other. Minimum amounts of both vram and motherboard ram. Minimum amount of processor cores and clock speeds. Minimum amounts of C: drive space, just to install the program.

Using lesser components is like your car analogy, it would be like having a Ferrari body with a Fiat Punto engine in it. It will still run but the experience will be missing.

I am running VPX 13 with no issues, other than the known Section bug, and it runs very well on my PC and laptop - the specs are in my signature.

See this example I posted in another topic and my post further down the page.

From the Magix website (my 8K emphasis in bold):

Recommended for 8K editing:

Processor: Quad-core processor with 2.8 GHz or better RAM: 8 GB Graphics card: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1060 4GB VRAM.

Those spec would be covered by just about every new computer out there.

System 1

Strange .... It's impossible to work with me. The configuration is known to you. Now I am going to attack, I do not know what to invest in. In your case, the processor turns the speed at 30% when converting the material?

Pawel-Rybinski wrote on 8/4/2022, 7:58 AM

Unfortunately, the new configuration does not fulfill its role
