German Bear - US Version

nancyandbob wrote on 12/12/2019, 11:34 AM

I just updated Photostory to Version 19.0.2.36 (UDP3) Code UG 8664 KA2

I'm presumably running the USA version. Somehow, in the upper right panel of the main screen, I see a brown bear saying "Whoops!" with "Keine Medien gefunden." below that. With no project opened, when I click on the "T" icon at the top, I get

> Titelbearbeitung

> Title templates.

How did I get, and how do I get rid of the "Titelbearbeitung"? Or do I even need to do so?

No, that's not me.  It's my daughter and first grandchild.  My favorite picture ever.

@nancyandbob

I see the same "annoyances". "Keine Medien gefunden" is basically claiming it can find no media files!

On my computer I have an overall Root directory into which all my photos are placed, in folders named to indicate when and where the pictures were taken. If I select the Root directory I see the message about no files found; I have to select a specific folder/directory inside the Root, then PS "finds" my photos. In my opinion it ought to "see" and list all the sub-folders.

So, there are really two annoyances, as far as I am concerned: the fact that this media search fails to look in sub-directories (folders) of the Root; the fact that Magix have failed to translate the message from German to English.

I also see the problem with the "T" button. Another example of the failure to translate!

Please raise a Support Ticket via the Contact button in the footer of every forum page. To me, these are "bugs" which ought to be relatively easy to squash, I think.

Hi All

I updated to 19.0.2.36 yesterday - are you saying the Brown bear is appearing in the Media pool where I have files and folders as shown below?

I also have theTitle translation error.

Hi John.

This is what I see:

Notice the different left hand column - don't know why it's displaying like that, nor how to restore it to what you obviously have and I used to have - and the selected/highlighted folder ("Canon Images") which is the root directory for all my picture files, with many, many sub-folders, but "No Media Found"!!

With me the bear and German/English mixed text appears after clicking on the "New" "Photo Explorer" and then on the drop down menu where there are four options two in English and two German,

Hi

To add to @David-Robinson5527's comment this is what is originally seen after the update

You can drag the thin bar at the top of the new explorer pane down to reveal the rest of the items in that panel.

How you turn the Photo Explorer off I cannot find - however resetting the program fixes it , as David has seen, there are more translation errors.

I can!! If you click on the three dots (Ellipse) at the top right of the "Bear" screen, the final option there is "Alte Ansicht" (?Old view?). That restores the more "usual" interface.

@emmrecs

Hi Jeff

I did try that previously however it did not work for me - think I may have clicked too fast - it is a small problem I have had with Windows since I bought a new roller ball mouse a few months ago.

Windows also does not always pick up double clicks if I do it too fast - yet the double click testing shows it is capturing the double click no matter how fast I do it.

With a slightly slower single click the Alte Ansicht is working.

Thanks

Until the Photo Explorer becomes more stable and usable there is little point in using it. I never had a problem searching for photos anyway. Clicking on the Photo Explorer can actually freeze Photostory for up to a minute so my PC doesnt like it anyway. (Only 8GB of shared Ram though)

I have to say, unfortunately, that I rather tend to agree with this!

@David-Robinson5527, @emmrecs

Hi

I am afraid I would disagree with you both to some extent.

I have been playing with this and once you get the settings right, eg displaying the name and file type, uncheck Display square symbols, and allowed it to populate the media pane for each folder where you use it, there are similarities and differences between Photostory and the Movie Edit Pro and VPX display their media panes.

List view - Photostory on left MEP on right

Icon view - Photostory on left MEP on right

Advantages

Photostory list view has a preview of the media as well as the details, MEP/VPX does not.

Photostory allows media to be preselected (single click) before adding to timeline, MEP/VPX require Ctrl + click or Shift+click.

Disadvantages

Photostory icon view does not display media names directly under the tile, it is at the top of the pane when you hover the mouse over a tile, MEP/VPX media names are directy under the tiles.

Photostory icon view cannot be resized, MEP/VPX do.

IMHO it is swings and roundabouts as to which is best or whether it is useful.
