From one PC to another

Hi there,

I'm looking at Magix to take all of my photos from one computer to another, since we got a new one.

Does Magix store the photos in the software, on my account? So if for example I install it on the old computer and the new computer, would all photos be accessible - or do I have to move all the photos to the new computer before adding to the software?

Thanks in advance!

Hi

. . . . Does Magix store the photos in the software, on my account?  . . . .

Assuming you are referring to Photo Manager - Magix is the name of the company, not the particular software you are using - it does not store the images within it itself, it creates a catalog (database) of where the imsges are located.

To transfer the images from one computer to another use Windows to copy them to a memory stick or external hard drive and then copy from there into the new computer.

You will need to re-install the software again, you will have to re-catalog the images if they are in different locations to the old computer, otherwise you may be able to export the database in the old PC and import it on the new.

Hi John.

I've taken the liberty of editing your post to add the all-important "not" in this sentence: " .... it does NOT store the images within it itself..".

Hope you don't mind!!

Jeff

Hi Jeff

Thanks for that - I must have lost the not when rearranging my comment.

Thanks
