Ive seen this problem mentioned all over the internet but have yet to find a solution. There is a delay between input and response when using line in or mic input in Windows 8.1. There must be some solution for this. At this point the Recording feature in Music Studio 2014 is useless to me due to the latency issue.

I suspect you did not search here - use the search box on the right with the search term Latency and you will find many answers which point to a tutorial in the Tutorial section of this forum about Latency issues.

No I did search this site first, and nothing here has been related to my issue. It would seme to be a bigger deal but i think most audiofiles knew better to stay away from windows 8 then i did...

What is the reason you suspect Windows 8.1 ?
I have both Windows 8 and 8.1, on a computer and laptop, and the 'latency' is virtually unnoticeable on both compared to my old Win 7 computer.
How fast the system can respond to a request from the USB port/ audio hardware depends on how much other processing is going on eg background programs.
What is your computer specification? I suspect the issue lies in the audio card/chipset.
Have you tried a USB microphone.
