FEATURE REQUEST FOR VIDEO PRO X6

dstrege08 wrote on 1/24/2015, 3:09 PM

Of all of the plugins that work with VPX6 64bit I am really missing a particle plugin. Most importantly one that is capable of generating fairy dusk/sparkling stars. Capable of creating the sparkles/twinkles that could be mapped to follow an object such as a wand or moving object.

I've used similar with showing handwirting of titles, fairy flying around objects, tracking motion on the screen, etc.

I have been looking and looking, but find none that will work with Magix VPX6. DigiEffects Phanomena appears that it may be useable, but I have been told that their plugins, although they are 64bit, won't work with Magix VPX6 and they have sent me to Magix support.

I've tried to use one of my many Adobe Premiere plugins which do handle particles great, but as I knew, they wouldn't work with Magix.

For myself, this would be the best feature to add to MVPX.

Hi

This is a user forum not Magix support.

Have you looked at NewBlueFX and Red Giant plugins here to see if they have what you want.

Alternatively there is a program called Particle Illusion which is capable of many creative effects, such as the one you want, which you can export as video and then attach to objects using the tracking option.

HTH

Hi John,

I wondered about if I was posting in the correct location. I searched something like 'Feature Request' when I couldn't find it on my own and it brought up one posting that matched so I just posted to it.

Are you aware of any 'requested features' anywhere for the VPX6 products? I was so sure I ran across it at one time.

I will go back and look at NewBlueFX and Reg Giant again.

I'm not sure about Particle Illusion and the working order. I think I would have to generate the entire section where I want to add the FX in Magix, and then export it as video. Then open that file with Particle Illusion and add the FX tracking to the movement from the Magix doc and then export it from Particle Illusion and import back into Magix. That seems like a lot of work compared to a plugin to Magix.

I appreciate your help and patience with me. I know you and I have talked about this problem before. I'm sort of driven to find it, hence returning returning posts over time. I wonder if I sent directly to Support, whether they would put it in the correct location for feature requests?

Thanks again John. I'll go and look through NewBlueFX and Red Giant plugins again.

Hi David,

You might be able to do this with RedGiant Trapcode Particular. See below.

proDAD Adorage 13 has some particle effects, including stars, but it is quite difficult to get a good effect.

Pixelan SpiceMaster has some interesting possibilities.

Here are 2 screen shots that I did quickly with pixie dust type effect behind the dog. The first one is just in Pixelan, the second has some Adorage stars added in.

The third one was done using RedGiant Trapcode Particular, and using another editor that I have that has the plugin. I just couldn't figure out how to rotate the effect to have it behind the dog that is running towards the camera.

So there you have a few possibilities.

Hi David,

Following my previous message, I played with RG Trapcode Particular a bit more. I couldn't figure out how to rotate the effect in the interface, but I could change the transfer mode to none, which gave me the effect on a black background. I exported it as a wmv file, imported into VPX6, chormakeyed it black, rotated it and keyframed the effect video to follow the dog. I guess we should change the dog's diet.

To do this better, I would have gone back into the program and made further adjustments to the effect over time to take into account that the effect is coming from far to near, but you get the idea. There is a lot of flexibility in this program. Below is the parameter screen for the effect. This is not simply an easy built-in animation. It is highly modifiable. Take a look on the Red Giant site. Don't expect Magix to try to compete with specialized effects makers. They have enough to do just to keep giving us an excellent platform to operate from.
