Error on "free downloads"

arnenu2 wrote on 1/12/2022, 1:02 PM

Hi, I just installed the 2022 update of Photostory DeLuxe: From the download menu I try to download content from the "Free download" menu. The content here seems to be locked / inaccessible.
I'm running a 64 bit desktop under Windows 11.
Does anyone have any good advice for solving this?
Looking forward to hear from you!

@arnenu2

From what you write I'm going to guess you were offered an update to your version of Photostory and you accepted and downloaded it. As a result, you now have Photostory 2022. Is that correct?

If so, you need to be aware that Photostory Deluxe 2022 is a paid-for upgrade to the previous version, unless your Update Service from your purchase of any previous version is still current. This Update Service runs for exactly 12 months from the date of purchase of that previous version.

If it is more than 12 months since you bought your previous version and if you have not renewed your Update Service then you are, essentially, running the Trial Version of PS Deluxe 2022. Once you purchase the Upgrade you will receive a new serial key which will fully unlock the software and allow you to download that additional content.

So, which version of PS did you have previously? On what date did you buy that previous version? Have you renewed your Update Service if that date of purchase is more than 12 months ago?

OTOH, if you have actually purchased the upgrade, you should have received an email confirming the purchase and including your new serial key. This key needs to be entered on the Registration screen, along with your email address. Doing that will unlock the additional content.

Hi and thanks for the quick response.
Initially, I had a license / version from 2016. I therefore bought an update and received a new license number with which I installed the update.
Unfortunately to no avail.
Do you have any suggestions for further action?

Kind regards

@arnenu2

Thanks for the additional information.

I’m not at my desktop computer (where all my Magix apps are installed) so cannot check this but is there an option under Help to Register online? If so could you try clicking on it and see whether a screen opens? If so, it should show your email address and a serial number. If it does, is it the correct new serial key? If not, change what is there to the correct one and then click to register.

Hi, under "Help" there is a menu option: "Register online" - "F12", but that option is not active for some reason.

Hi

. . . . From the download menu I try to download content from the "Free download" menu. The content here seems to be locked / inaccessible . . . . .

Do you mean when you start the free download again, the Download Manager shows the free content and you cannot select any of the items shown below:

If so then the free content is already installed - if you elected to keep the free content then the installer files will be in the Documents\MAGIX Downloads folder.
