Hi as anyone had the same error message as attached. Not sure why it is referencing video deluxe as I recently upgraded to movie studio suite 2024?

Hi Derek.

No I have not seen that particular error code. Does it happen every time you use the program?

Video Deluxe is the base name used for the program and known as Video Deluxe in some countries.

Hi

Application Error 0xc0000005 (Access Violation) error is usually caused by your computer not being able to correctly process the files and settings required to run a particular program and has may possible causes:

  • faulty RAM problems (rare) or overheating
  • errors caused by Windows updates not completing properly resulting in a mismatch
  • corrupted Windows system files.

For the last 2 items you need to run System File Checker (SFC) to scan for corrupted Windows system files.

See this tutorial and follow steps 4 -11.

Hi Derek.

Then the problem is probably one of the above as described by @johnebaker.

For my money I would say it is a memory problem and not a Windows problem if it is not happening all the time but that is only a guess on my part. The specs page for the program is only for running the basic program. Once you start to add any effects or add different file types to a project, that memory requirement can shoot up quite dramatically.

Try opening task manager by right clicking anywhere on the Windows Task Bar and selecting Task Manager.

I have only got Firefox open on my system at present and you can see Windows plus paint has already committed over 7.5GBs of Memory to be used even though I have stopped a lot of the background apps from starting up with Task Manager.

Opening Magix Movie Studio 2024 will increase the amount of system ram in use. Opening a project or starting and adding files to a project will increase the amount used. The amount of ram in use will never exceed the amount of ram the system reports in Task Manager. It will always be slightly less but the Commit Charge is the one to look at. If that exceeds the amount of actual system (Motherboard) ram that you have then there is a good chance that gets written to disk to get read when needed.

The example I give above is using 4K video footage only and the project so far only has the video files in order. There are no cross fades or added effects, colour correction or sharpening.

What I suggest for now is to look at your Task Manager with a project that does not cause that problem and then another project that does to see if it could be memory related.

If it is you may have to try to cut down the amount of background applications running to reduce the amount of memory your system is using.

My answer to this problem is not definitive. I may be wrong and it could be one of the other reasons John Baker has suggested such as overheating of the motherboard or graphics ram which could be alleviated by having better airflow around your laptop.

John's answer was based on help from the Microsoft website. Possibly here and is correct but somewhat unhelpful in fault finding.

From a personal viewpoint, the last thing I would like to do is start prodding around or fiddling with Windows but it may become an inevitable thing to do if we can't figure out the cause.

When I first installed Windows 10 it only loaded about 4.7GBs of data to memory but recently I had to reinstall a fresh copy and now with little else running that I can't kill as background tasks Windows is loading just over 6GBs of data on startup.

Hi Derek.

I'd like to amend my last few Statements because I just did a fresh restart of my system to check my figures.

Just restarting Windows by using 'Restart' in Windows so it did not reload my last session of Windows usage, Windows only loaded less than 4GBs of data to memory. Opening MMS 2024 and loading a project and playing it loaded less then 6GBs of motherboard memory but the commit charge was pretty high and my nvidia graphics card was using an additional 4GBs of vram which may have made a difference.

Just opening my screen recorder would have added a bit more memory in use but it doesn't add much and is the main reason for seeing so much activity from the Intel GPU which it was using while MMS 2024 was mainly using my nvidia 3060.

Still you should look at what your laptop is making use of but do what I did and try a restart of Windows to clear any caches of memory usage before opening and running MMS 2024. That alone may help stop the fault. It's possible.

Hi

. . . . Thanks no only once in a while . . .

Would you class this as an intermittent problem, ie randomly occurs?

How old is the laptop?

If more than 2yrs old has it been serviced (cleaned internally).

Depending on the make of the laptop, if you hear the fans running at high speed, you may want to consider a laptop cooler pad/plate to help keep temperatures down, especially when rendering video.

Thank you for all your feedback. I have ordered a further 8GBDDR ram hopefully this will help the issue.
