Hi there. please can anyone help - i have a problem entering a URL in the "homepage" field as part of posting a comment below any item on my Online Album. i have tried numerous URL's in different formats, but keep getting an error message saying: " Please enter a valid internet address." Am i missing something?

@HAManandJokeDebaere

Valid internet address formats are :

https://www.sitename.xxx

https://sitename.xxx

and http:// versions of the above.

xxx = the domain type eg .com, .info etc

If you are trying to link to a specific page on a site then you must also include the page name and its correct file extension eg:

https://www.sitename.xxx/gallery.htm

there are several types of file extensions including: .html, .php, .asp and .jsp - the one you need is specific to the page you are trying to link to.

Note - if you are linking to a 3rd party site, some owners are very particular that you only link to their homepage.

Hi John, thank you for your detailed response.

The web album is mine. A friend posted a comment and wanted to include HIS URL in the Homepage field.

He (and I) tried https://amateurist.weebly.com/ but gets an error message.

My own URL is https://www.hamanworld.com/ which also gets an error message. In fact, every URL
I try - according the formats you gave - keeps failing. ("Please enter a valid internet address.")

How now?

Hi

AFAICS the Magix Online is redirecting to a site created in WordPress hosted elsewhere - is this correct?.

Are you entering the site URL into WordPress - if so this a WordPress issue and I would suggest you look at the WordPress Support pages and forum.

John, no. No relation to Wordpress. This regards comments in MAGIX Online Album Premium. My Web Album address: haworld.magix.net

I took a screen shot of the comments section with a yellow arrow pointing at the error message, while trying to post it with https://amateurist.weebly.com/ as Homepage.

You can view the screen shot here: https://www.hamanworld.com/comments%20section.jpg

As mentioned, I tried various URL's here with no success.

Hi

From the image you have linked to there are 2 possibilities that the valid URL validator is not liking:

  1. the https:// at the beginning of the URL

    and/or

  2. the / (forward slash) at the end of the web address did you try without this extra / ?

If that does not work then I suggest you contact Support at magix-online to find out exactly what the URL validator is looking for.

I appreciate your prompt responses.

https or http no difference. Forward slash at the end or not no difference.

The reason i posted on this forum is because i could not find a way to contact Support at Magix Online. There's just endless FAQ's, none of which is helpful with this problem. Very frustrating.

Could you please provide me with direct contact details for them?

Finally found it. It is VERY unclear how to send a direct request. It feels like it is deliberately hidden.

Anyway, I did find the solution myself, just now. the answer is that the Homepage field only handles http:// and not https:// I thought i tested this before, but apparently not.

Thank s for the help anyway.
