Embed HTML code web designer 19 prem win10

I have embedded HTML code on a page but cannot se the code embedded. I need to embed a new code in the body of the page and are a little unsure how to do it. Please help

To embed code , referring the image below

Create a placeholder eg a black square (1)

Right click the object and select Web properties (2)

Click the Placeholder tab and then select the appropriate Replace with HTML code option and paste the code. (3) then OK out of the dialogs.

You will see nothing until you Preview the page - the example above looks like this
