Edited video length

I seriously need some help ! I previously had Movie Studio 17 Platinum and upgraded to Movie studio 2025. I'm still learning but I've been doing super basic editing just to get videos edited and uploaded to my YouTube channel. I just combined 5 video clips by clicking on them all and dragging and dropping them then exporting them to start the rendering. What my problem currently is, I just edited a long video and when I saved it to my thumb drive it saved it into 2 different files, one is 46.28 minutes and the second is 13.02 minutes. I need it to be in one complete video. Is there a setting for movie maximum length in MS 2025 or is there a set maximum length and it can't be changed. I'm sorry if this is a stupid question but I never had this problem with MS 17 Platinum.

@Jennifer-Wilson Hi, I'm not sure what the problem is but Movie studio 2025 is not an upgrade from Movie Studio 17 Platinum, it's a completely different program. Magix have been doing this slight of hand offer to Vegas Movie studio owners with the falsely named 'upgrade' to their own version of Magix Movie studio for quite some time now.

Vegas Movie studio was a scaled-down version of Vegas Pro. It was developed by Sony for its first 13 versions. It was sold in Sony's larger 2016 sale of much of its creative software suite to Magix who developed Versions 14 to 17. Magix would later discontinue VEGAS Movie Studio in 2021, in favor of the unrelated Magix Movie Studio which is completely different program & has never had any relation to Vegas Movie Studio.. Magix Movie Edit which was Magix's editor was then renamed to Magix Movie Studio, this is where the slight of hand 'upgrade' comes in.

You can carry on using your Magix Movie Studio or consider the more correct upgrade which would be to Vegas Pro.

This is what Vegas Pro looks like, it will prob look a lot like your old Movie Studio 17 Platinum, & it will perform just like your old one too.

PS. I write this because it really annoys me seeing the amount of people I see posting on here who think they've upgraded, when in reality they've bought a completely different program.

Wow, Ok ! Yeah it is definitely sneaky to promote it as an UPGRADE when it isn't. I couldn't afford the Vegas Pro at the time but I may have to work it into my budget. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I guess I'll download my MS 17 on my desktop because I know I can edit a longer video with it.

I'm wondering if this could be the 4Gb limit on a Fat32 formatted USB (thumb) drive. Is the 42 minute file about 4gb?

Try checking the drive in Windows Explorer by right clicking on it and selecting properties. If it's Fat32 then you'll need to format it to NTFS on exFAT - make sure there's nothing important on the drive first though!.

Greetings Jennifer, what format are you saving to?

Is it possible to post the Mediainfo data of the split files? (details how to do this are here https://www.magix.info/us/forum/please-do-the-following-before-posting-your-question--621831/)

Hopefully that data will give an insight into the problem.

I was able to fix the issue by reformatting my 32gb thumb drive. For some reason it wouldn't save it as one video even though it was a brand new thumb drive. Once I formatted to the exFAT it saved as one video. It was stressful even though it was a super easy fix.
