DVD will not Play after edit is made! Please Help!

Someone Please Help!  I am new at this software and I am about to pull my hair out!  I am trying to put together some video (handicam with mini disks) and a couple of video clips from my camera onto a DVD.  I have it all imported and saved.  I can get it to burn (it takes 2 hours to burn an 80 minute video- is that normal?), but it will  play on both my computer and a DVD player.  My problem is that when I burned the same thing after just putting a title on it and a simple edit, when I burn it it will not play on either.  At the bottom of the edit screen it shows the original box and the edited box.  When I start to burn the edited version, and it asks me the questions before burning, it seems to want to revert back to the original version. I have tried "Use", "Encode", and "Encode all".  "Use"  gave me an error when I played the DVD back.  "Encode" would not play at all, and Encode all reverted back to the non edited version.  I am totally confused.  First of all ,why does it even keep the old version in a separate box at the bottom of the edit page.  For some reason it acts like it needs to read the original version to burn the disk.  I hope someone can help!  Thanks!

I will assume you are using MEP15 or 16. Hope I am understanding what is going on....

Once you have "encoded" a movie (and yes it does take a long time to encode) with the menu graphics and all , then make changes you do have to re encode. If all you changes was the menu graphics MEP gives you the option to keep the existing newly-edited  movie and just encode the menu part. Unfortunately it does not allow for edits of the movie content without re encoding like other more expensive programs. Anyways....when you are going to burn after all the edits are done...tell it to "encode all" and it will burn using the new edited movie and menu.
