DVD Media/Disks

AAProds wrote on 2/7/2025, 7:52 AM

This post is not strictly concerning an issue with the program itself. Given Magix is one of the few DVD Authoring and burning programs on the market, I thought those of you who are burners may be interested in this post concerning good quality DVD disks.

All my forum comments are based on or refer to my System 1.

My struggle is over! I built my (now) system 2 in 2011 when DV was king and MPEG 2 was just coming onto the scene and I needed a more powerful system to cope. Since then we've advanced to MP4 and to bigger and bigger resolutions. I was really suffering, not so much in editing (with proxies) but in encoding, which just took ages. A video, with Neat Video noise reduction applied, would encode at 12% of film speed. My new system 1 does the same job at 160% of film speed. Marvellous. I'm keeping my old system as a capture station for analogue video tapes and DV.

@AAProds

Hi Al,

Thanks for this link. The post confirms what I have found over a number of years; Ritek blank discs are certainly the least "problematic" of various ones I have tried! I have very rarely had a burn failure with any of their products.

I'm going to pin the post to the top of the forum so that it can be easily found by those amongst us who still burn discs.

My apologies for using this thread, but I can't find the general forum for Movie Studio 2025. Is it still here?

@KJS-LES

Hi

Browse to the forum home page - select the blue New post option top right, on the following page select Movie Studio and work your way through the dialogs.

Hi John,

Could you please give me the link to the home page. This site for some reason isn't working for me. The message page which I replied to doesn't have a "New Message" link, nor does https://www.magix.info/us/video-forum/ - which is why I had to reply this way. Kami

Hi Kami,

(Good to hear from you again!)

https://www.magix.info/us/video-forum/ is the Home page for video products. Very near the top is a blue box "New Comment". Click on it and you will see a box which allows you to select a product area, a product and then post your question.

Hi Kami, Jeff

.. . . . "New Message" . . .  "New Comment" . . . .

It is neither - the blue button is 'New Post' as I posted above.

The ,New Comment, button only appears when your are actually in a topic and want to reply to the original poster.

I wasn't able to see the New Comment box till I began scrolling the page. 😬 I finally saw it a short time ago and posted my message. 😁
