I recently switched to DVD Architect Pro because my old authoring program was a major memory hog (25% of resources used, lots of slowdowns and crashes). So far, Architect hasn't behaved so badly, but I miss knowing how to set up and edit custom menus. Specifically, I need to relearn these skills:
- Creating a menu which is almost all text (everything except the navigation buttons at the bottom of the page). Each new link shouild have the same size and color of text; the button rectangles can get longer or shorter horizontally, but are never wider than one line of text in the selected font/size. Can DVD Architect themes be scripted to handle text that way?
- Turning pictures into menu buttons from scratch. I have some experience with layered images in Photoshop, but still don't know how to create highlight or frame masks. My chapter menus should have text-and-image buttons based on this picture (see below)..
- Ediing chapters as I go, down to the frame -- but still giving viewers a choice between start-to-finish play and chapter selection, on the final disk.
Can DVD Architect Pro 6 help me design a thene like that? I'm hoping it's got the right features for the job. (I'll probably need a friend with better graphic skills to solve the menu-button problem; but the other two should be easy once I learn the steps.)
