Does Vegas Pro 16 import exr files for still sequence?

I'm trying to import a sequence of image stills with .exr extension created in Maya 2018. I've been researching and it appears that exr is an acceptable format but the sequence will not show up in "import media." Anyone have experience importing exr files into Vegas Pro?
