In order to import MPEG-2 material, you will need to activate the MPEG-2 codec (via "Help" => "Activate additional functions"). Also, you will often have Dolby Digital audio on this kind of material. So, you need to activate the Dolby Digital Stereo decoder in the same menu, too. After that, import with MPEG video including sound shouldn't be a problem.
