disappearing handles for sizing and moving

preacherallen wrote on 3/14/2017, 9:50 AM

For Video Pro X8 The sizing and moving handles (little orange squares on corners and sides) have disappeared from the program Monitor when using Size/position. They are still there when using 3D distortion. I can still resize typing in numbers but very cumbersome for dozens of resizings and movings. Tried to reinstall/repair program but no luck. Any suggests short of removing the whole program and reinstalling from scratch?

Hi, not seeing that here, running version 15.0.3.144 (most recent update). See screenshot below.

One thing I did notice is that those handles seem a little smaller and they are quite some way outside the main image.

I had them also like that until yesterday (after using the program for several months and it working perfectly). Have been working on a complicated 3 hour video program but even new programs started from scratch don't have them. Also just noticed a work around. When I go to rotate effect they are there and do work so can size and move in rotate effect. Still would like to have them back in size and move effect.

The upload on the left is the one when set to size and position effect and the one on the right is when the effect is set to Rotation/mirror.

Hi,

On the effects screen there is a button that says either Edit or Preview. If it shows Edit, you are in Preview mode and the handles aren't there. Click on it.

Hi

. . . . Still would like to have them back in size and move effect. . . . .

If you have already applied a zoom or size effects and enlarged the image, then the handles do disappear off the preview monitor - they are at the edges and corners of the object. The only way to see them is to move the object until a corner handle appears. See images below

Image placed on timeline - auto fits to project size - handles visible

Image resized to original size - handles disappear

Image moved to see one corner

Note - I am working with dual monitors and the Program preview screen is full size on one of the monitors

Hi

The only way to see them is to move the object until a corner handle appears.

That's one way but a better one is to zoom out the Preview monitor to say 75% using the menu at the top left of the Preview Monitor. This is there to make anything that is off screen, able to be grabbed and positioned.

browJ2 solved it! Never noticed that button on the screen. Changing it made the handles reappear. Must have accidentally clicked it somewhere in the last few days.
