"Create waveform" option does appear when I right click

DaveSmith wrote on 5/8/2016, 1:51 AM

When I open the audio track I cannot access "Create waveform", but sometimes the waveform appears on its own later, also I can't get the option to split audio into 3 channels.

Having said that on very limited occasions these options do appear.

It would appear to me that there is a fault in the programing.

I have used Pro X since its inception but never had this sort of thing before.

Unfortunately I am using Windows 10, could this have anything to do with it.

Hi Dave, if you read the two threads I've linked above you will see something of my "trials" with VPX (8) and Win 10!!  As you will see, I haven't (so far) experienced exactly what you are seeing but I do wonder whether there is a common element between us, that of "disappearing" graphics?  In my case, they never appear, which is an absolute pain.  I can workaround the fact that the Open Project screen contains no text, but also the Program Monitor does not show the time of the point where I am working, so "remembering" where I may need to go back to for later amendments is a real added burden!

MAGIX Support's view is that this is a problem created by a Win 10 Update; certainly for me it first appeared directly after my computer downloaded and installed the latest, 1511, update on April 12th.

I would recommend raising your issues with Support; if our problems are related it might help for Support, and especially Bob Braun, to be made aware of this.  The more information they have possibly the easier it will be for them to track down the cause and eliminate it!  (One always lives in hope!)

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your interest.

Whether our problems are due to Windows 10 upgrades I can't tell, what I can say is that updates of Windows have gone on since I installed it last year when I was using X 7 and I have had no ill effects, in fact I can open a X 8 project in X 7 and do what I need and then re-open in X 8 and carry on editing although X 7 cannot open a X 8 project without being told where it is, maybe this is also part of the problem.

Another problem I have is that I cannot get fonts any bigger than 13 points in the chapter screen when making DVD's, also when I untick numbering it gets rid of the number but leaves a black box.

Thinking about it, although I don't like to think about it, it sounds like the program.

Hi,

I have had this same problem with the waveform in various versions of MEP and VPX6 and X7. It is intermittent. No wave form would show up and the command was no longer in the right click menu (Shift + E, I believe). Sometimes I could get the waveform, sometimes not.

What I do now is, under Program settings under Video/Audio, Timeline - check Half waveform display, uncheck Video/Audio on one track, Import - check Automatically create waveform during import. I haven't noticed any problems since.

I can't replicate your other problems in the burn screens. Turning off numbering does not leave a block box, and I can get font sizes larger than 13.

I am still on W7 so it may be a Windows 10 problem.

Did you update to the latest X8 patch 15.0.0.83?
