I have a .xar file that wont open and returns an error "SmartShape failed to load text". Is there any recommendations for being able to force the file to open so that I can locate and fix the error.

Was the project file created using the version of Designer pro you are trying to open it with or an older version either of Designer Pro or Xara Web Designer?
The file should load on acknowledging the error message, so you can inspect the missing component(s).
However if it does not and you are getting multiple errors, do you have backup copies or an older version of the project available?

the file was originally created in XDP x12 and now attempting to open in XDP x19
Due to being issued with a new laptop I have no previous backups that go far enough back to try.
as soon as I attempt to load the file mentioned above, I get the error and no further progress. Selecting ok on the error message just return to xara desktop window
