Continual reinstall/registration

I bought an Infrasonic Windy 6 a few years back and it came with Samplitude 9 SE.  I use it fairly regularly on a pc that is isolated from network.  Every 6 months or so it craps out and i have to reinstall.  No big deal, but this last time it's asking for re-registration.  What's the deal? Your site tells me the product is not supported anymore (i'm really not about to shell out 500 bucks for a new version of something that doesn't leave an impression of quality).  And to boot, your site suggests i can only register it 3 times.  When i have to do this again in 6 months, what you're telling me is i will no longer be able to use it because i wont have registrations left?

Few things piss me off more than not being able to use something i paid for.  It might have been a pack in, but i'm sure magix got their cut.

Also, why does my version come up as both "DEMO" and "Gratisaktivierung" with seperate registrations?  is someone in Germany stealing my reg?

Hello,
A couple of comments.  First, the Magix policy of allowing a product to be re-activated 3 times is actually quite generous.  Try re-activating pretty much any Microsoft product more than once.  Some software companies don't allow you to download and re-install their software at all unless you purchase a download protection plan from them.

If you need to re-install the software every 6 months, I would be looking at my system trying to figure out why this is occuring.  Has your system registry ever been cleaned and defragmented?  Have you ever defragmented your hard drive?  These are questions you should be contemplating for your overall system health and performance.

Finally if for some strange reason the applications is actually the culprit and knowing that the product is no longer supported, why would you not back up the application to a seperate location so that it can be restored later?

Look around your home and I would be willing to bet that you will find many things that you paid for more than a few years ago that if they were to fail, you would find that they are no longer supported.  Companies cannot support every product they make forever.  If you registered your product and selected to receive offers from Magix, you would likely have received a number of offers to upgrade your software to the current or new version at a reasonable price.  I have only been using Magix products for just under a year and have received multiple offers to upgrade to the newest product at incredibly reasonable prices.  I currently own and use Magix video, photo, web design, music, and audio cleaning products, have never experience the need to re-install any of them.

By the way Gratisaktivierung means "Free activation" in German, so no one in Germany is trying to steal anything from you.

I hope this helps in some way.
Good Luck!
George
