connecting a keyboard and guitar to samplitude..using these to play the virtual instruments in samplitude?

how can i connect my guitar to samplitude and play the guitar using the virtual sound plugins in samplitude? i want to use a keyboard to also play the virtual plugins in samplitude, my keyboard has a 1/4inch output..can i use a 1/4inch to usb and plug the usb end into the laptop and play the virtual sounds in samplitude? the keyboard also has a midi io.....i'd like to know how to use both ways...1/4 to usb AND midi...thanks

However, the only way you'd be able to play any virtual instrument plug-ins (VSTi) with your guitar is through a guitar synth set-up with a MIDI output or any other audio to MIDI converter.  The do sell relatively inexpensive guitar-to-USB cables.
