i hope everyone has had a good holiday.

i've reinstalled movie edit pro 14 plus on a new machine but i'm not able to get an activation code.  after putting in the serial number i'm constantly prompted for a computer id (see below).  i have even tried to retrieve an id number from the "fax" fly out menu under the register option but it tells the computer id is wrong.   i have not been able to reach magix in over a week and no replies from the to my email inquires.

any ideas where i get this computer id that i need to get an activation code?

Hi there,

Exactly what feature/codec are you trying to activate here? Is that a free or paid activation? This information is relevant to how exactly the activation procedure would work. If this is a free activation (e.g. MPEG-2, Dolby Stereo or even MPEG-4 in the "Plus" version of MEP14), which it most likely is, please do not use the "restore activation" function to get a new activation code. Just use the "order code online" option in the respective codec activation dialog and follow the on-screen instructions. Filling in any Computer ID code will not be required.

When contacting Magix, please make sure you use the e-mail contact form on the support website:

support.magix.net/

This kind of problem should be sorted out rather quickly. If you're not positive your enquiries were placed via the support website and got through, especially if you had no automatic e-mails that confirmed the reception, maybe just try again.

I hope this helps.

Hi there,

Thanks for clarifying this. In this case, the function you're using is only relevant to computers that are not connected directly to the Internet. If you're on an online machine, you should just need to put the original serial number into the activation dialog within the program. I recommend copying & pasting it from your original activation e-mail into the program. If the online connection is not blocked (e.g. by a firewall), the only reason the code is rejected as invalid could be the fact that you've already used up your three activations. (That's the limit.) Do you think that might be the case here?
Another thought: Make sure you're entering the code into exactly the right version of the program. If you have the wrong trial version (e.g. MEP 14 classic instead of "Plus"), it won't work. To avoid problems, download and install the program from the original link in the activation mail.

If none of this helps, I'm afraid you won't get around waiting for the official response from Magix, as only they could clear up what is going on.
