Cannot uninstall old version

Bennett-Kass wrote on 11/9/2020, 9:37 AM

I am trying to uninstall Web Developer Premium 17. It will not let me run the uninstall program. I have tried running as Administrator and have changed the properties to allow full access. No matter what I try I get the same message.

"The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it. (1612)"

File path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Xara Services\Uninstall\...

I have the latest operating system of Windows 10.

Please help.

Ben

@Bennett-Kass

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The error message would suggest that the uninstall file, which contains information about what to remove is missing, or a previous uninstall had issues and did not complete correctly.

Try using this Microsoft tool to fix the issue, and the try uninstalling again.

Hi Johnebaker,

I wish that Microsoft tool worked. I stated it was fixed but still failed with the same error. I tried to run the tool again but the application was missing from the list. It is still installed and still cannot uninstall it.

Hi Ben

Has the program actually been removed from its installation folder and it has left some bits behind?

It should be located in the folder:

C:\Program Files\Xara\Xara Web Designer Premium 2020\17 (or similar)

If the contents of the installation folder have gone, then the entry in Apps and Features and any shortcuts may have been left behind and you will have to remove these manually.

If the contents are there then you are going to have to manually remove the program and clean up afterwards.

For final cleanup I use CCleaner to find lost registry fragments etc, it can also remove the entry under Apps and features. If you do this make a registry backup first and, as always, using such a tool is your decision.

No longer an issue. I downloaded a free copy of IOBit Uninstaller and it worked. I now only have one version of the web designer. Thank you for your help.
