I purchased the Magix rescue your videotapes (8th edition) on 29 October 2015. I can quote the order number if neccessary and the price was £29.95. It is only now that I have been able to use the item but in attempting to activate the MP2 I am told that my serial number is allocated against a different e mail. I can quote this number as well if neccessary. Pleasecan you help?

First - never post order numbers, serial numbers or any other personal/confidential information in the forum. This is a public user to user forum not Magix Support.
I assume you are getting the Error - 24 serial number has already been registered to another email address - contact support message.
Did you use the same email address to activate the program as when you purchased it?
Additional issues you are likely to get if you are running Windows 10 is that the USB video converter dongle will not be found - see here for the correct drivers.

Hi John My e mail has not changed in over 20 years so I am stumped! Indeed I retained the e mail from you acknowledging my purchase. The dongle works on windows 10 so it is only the format preventing me from doing what I want to do.
What can I do about this please?

John is indeed a moderator but not a Magix employee. No-one here is a Magix employee, so we do not send anyone emails or have dealings with the main Magix website.
I think you will have to email magix direct using this email address. infoservice@magix.net and explain your problem with as much detail as possible.

What is the full error message and any error code number? A screen shot of the error dialog would help a great deal .
