Cannot find imbedded code for Ecwid or design gallery. did they expire

richard-laban wrote on 12/1/2023, 4:34 PM

Bought this Xara web designer premium ver 10 app in 2017 and set up a store through Ecwid. last few days customers getting a "cannot find page 404 redirect" message. Ecwid tells me my code is wrong. Honestly I cant recall the process for imbedding code but I went to find the design gallery in the xara app and its no longer there. Was this some kind of subscription that expired? I cannot even find info on how to link my web page with ecwid or install a widget. thanks for any suggestions (ps: I'm 70 and not that quick anymore with memory)

Hi

See this article - check that the existing Placeholder embedded code is the same as that generated at step 3.

If not replace your embedded code.

Before uploading, export the website to a folder on your computer and test that the site works.

I really appreciate your quick response. I’m going to follow those steps for certain. I found an Ecwid video on YouTube that I haven’t watched yet. When I’m on the page in my Xara website that has the link/code to ecwid, I click my mouse and a small widget icon appears with the edit option. However, all it does is bring up the ecwid widget and the one-click option to generate code.
I was really hoping to find the existing embedded code in my file, but have been unable to do this. Do you have any idea where this code is located? Thanks again.

Hi

In Web Designer right click the ECWID widget and select Web Properties, Placeholder, HTML code (body) as shown in the image below and compare this to what the article I linked to gives.

If they are not the same - excepting of course your Store ID - follow the ECWID article to replace the script with the correct version, I would suggest you work on a backup copy first and test in a web browser.

My old version script which does not work is also shown in the image below.

The new script code does work correctly for me.

You’re a genius! I recall that I may have done this 6 years go, but totally forgot. I’ll give it a shot when I get home. I really appreciate you getting back to me so quickly. Very kind of you

Hello John. The only thing I found that might be an Ecwid widget was the attached picture; it has the screen that generates the code. there is no edit component. I also went to the page where I thought it needed to be embedded. I clicked on utilities-->web properties and the 2ndpic I posted shows the placeholder fields grayed out. NOW, I'm wondering if you meant the graphic image I'm using ( a click here image) would be the Ecwid icon you refer to? I read your post literally and looked for something with ecwid on it. Could i call any place item the ecwid widget by right clicking on that graphic and putting the code data in that placeholder ? I'm hoping not to be a bother. thanks

I left this out: I'm finding that I cannot assign the placeholder code to a jpeg/graphic on the page. The placeholder is there, but not the graphic (see attached) For some reason the graphic

disappears but the area I placed it is like an invisible hyperlink to the widget code. hope thats clear.

Hi

. . . . For some reason the graphic disappears but the area I placed it is like an invisible hyperlink to the widget code . . . .

Is the store placeholder on its own page or the graphic above the placeholder?

If the graphic is the placeholder, then this it will disappear, a placeholder is literally an empty space reserved and filled in with the shop web page downloaded from ECWID.

To use an image button, as above, to open the store, the store placeholder should be on its own page, and the button linked to the store page.
