Cannot connect to VHS recorder

richardjgreen wrote on 11/24/2015, 10:45 AM

I have a new ASUS laptop with Windows 8, Magix Movie Edit Pro 13 and Magix Movies on DVD 7.

I was able to connect to my old laptop, which died. I am now trying to load DVD 7 on my new laptop.

I followed the DVD 7 program installation - no problem.I tried the USB video converter installation: select "USB drivers", restart the computer, insert the device in a USB port but the hardware assistant did NOT appear. When I try the DVD 7 program, recording analog, I get "No recording devices have been found in your system".

Any suggestions?

Best Wishes

Richard

Hi

. . . . Windows 8, Magix Movie Edit Pro 13 and Magix Movies on DVD 7. . . ..

Presumably you mean Movie Edit Pro 2013 - if so then please use the full name,  if not then MEP 13 is not compatible with Windows 8, similarly Movies on DVD 7 may have incompatability issues with Windows 8

. . . . I tried the USB video converter installation: select "USB drivers", restart the computer, insert the device in a USB port but the hardware assistant did NOT appear. . . . .

The most likley problem is that 64 bit drivers have been installed, MEP 2013 and MM on DVD 7 are 32 bit programs and cannot use 64 bit drivers - you need to install 32 bit drivers for the USB device.

Assuming the USB device came with Movies on DVD 7 then you can download drivers here for the black video capture device or here for the red video capture device

NOTE: the drivers may move to page 4 of the links provided above.

If your USB device is not from Magix then you will have to download the drivers from the manufacturers website.

I'm having similar issues.

I should start by saying that this unit and Movies for DVD 7 has been working without issues until now. Whilst I could download the driver for the red video capture device re your link above, the setup encounters an error and it won't finish the install.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled drivers which seem to have the USB capture device recognised, although it was an x64 version, but each and every time I try to record I get the notification that 'no recording devices have been found'. Trying to capture VHS which I have been able to do until now.

Tearing my hair out here.

Hi

I am guessing that the error message relates to 'unsigned drivers' .

Check that the following Windows Identity Foundation class is enabled in the Windows control panel, Programs, Turn Windows features on or off as shown below

Yes it was - invalid or not found. (0x80096002) Followed your guidance re WIF but still will not install. That was after a re-start.

I'd be tempted to re-install everything from scratch but whilst I've registered the product online I cannot find the orig install disc. Typical! Any online library source for the software - I have the key.

Just my luck. No download link.

I consulted the download centre armed with my serial code but........no downloads available for this product.

I've emailed Magix with the issue and lack of product download.

appreciate your help.
