@Randy-zimmerman

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

What kind of drive is your G:\? Internal or External, USB or HDD or SSD (or similar)? Do any and all apps on your PC have full access to the drive?

Can you show a screenshot of what you see when you click to open that drive from within PS? I'm not sure what you mean when you write it takes (you) to the top of the page.

G: is an external hard drive. I've never had ANY issues accessing it from any software. Works perfectly....except for Magix.

It's visible in the window, you have to scroll down a bit to see it. When selected, nothing happens, EXCEPT that it doesn't open the drive, and the window returns to the original (top) position.

The G: drive does not open.

@Randy-zimmerman

I also use External USB drives - I currently have 3 of them connected to my PC, one of which holds the vast majority of my photos - and I have no problem at all in accessing those photos to use in PS, or any other program.

So, I would venture to suggest, this is not a problem with PS but rather, something specific to your computer.

I wonder whether Windows Controlled Folder Access is blocking PS from accessing this drive? I am no expert on this at all but, assuming you have Windows 10, if you go to Settings>Update & Security>Windows Security>Virus & Threat Protection, on that screen you will see "Ransomware protection" with a link to "Manage ransomware protection". If you click that link you will then see "Controlled Folder Access"; if it is "on" try turning it "off". Then go back to PS and try again to import your photos.

Please post back to say whether this resolved the problem for you.

I will also tag @johnebaker in this thread since he has much wider knowledge of this sort of problem than I have.

Hi

If @emmrecs suggestion does not work, check that the USB ports are not being turned off by Windows to save power. If they are try disabling this feature.

On my laptop I have mine set to always on when connected to a power source - this avoids waiting for the drive to power up, which occasionally they do not, after being turned off by Windows.
