I have closed your duplicate post on the same issue as this original post.

In Windows settings, System, Privacy & Security, Camera and Microphone, ensure that the options Let apps access your camera, and Microphone is set on.

In Video Easy you should see the USB capture device in the dropdown indicted below - the image is showing my old capture device

Hi again John, thanks for the answers, I missed the first one sorry for that. I have now installed the software and checked in settings s that microfon and camera are according to the instructions. But I can't make it work anyhow. I can still only chose the option PC camera in the drop-menue so I never get to the screen choice you show. I also went into "user defined" to check software under drivers, but that filed is empty so it doesn't seem to recognize that I have installed the Videowandler driver at all. So very grateful if there are any more advices regarding what to do. Thanks in advance. Claes

If this is a PC and you have a web camera plugged in then:

Unplug tthe web cam and the video converter.

Restart the computer - Windows button, Power, Restart, once windows has restarted plugin the the video converter only and try Video Easy.

If a laptop just unplug the video converter and restrt as above.

Thanks again for a quick reply. Unfortunately I'm still stuck. I have a laptop and I have restarted and done everything you say, but still no connection at all to the VHS-player. I have also reinstalled the videowandler multiple times. I still only see my web-camera as only option in the drop-menue and when I proceed to "enhanced view" and click on "hardware and drivers" it's a blank field so somehow it doesn't recognize the videoWandler. I have unzipped the files and I have run the exe-file and gone through the installation guide and got confirmation that the driver is installed. Do I need to move the driver somehow from "Uploaded files" to a destination under Magix? I have multiple MAGIX-products installed so I'm a bit uncertain on how to do that, but I guess it should work automatically when running the install wizard. Do you have any more ideas, what to try? I was also looking for a phone number to a support, but there doesn't seem to exist that possibility, or? Grateful for more help. Kind Regards Claes

There should be no need to move the files, as you have had confirmation that the drivers are installed the USB device should be available.

With the USB capture device plugged in, is it visible in Windows Device Manager under Sound, video and Game controllers.

What colour is the USB capture device and are there any markings on it?

Which other Magix products do you have installed? If you have Photostory, Movie Edit Pro/Movie Studio or Video Pro X can they see the USB capture device for recording?

Thanks for your patience! I can see it in the device manager, but it says that the driver is not installed? I then click on "install driver" and went to "downloaded files" but then the videowandler files seems to be empty when I try to upload them into the device manager. But when I look into the explorer, the files are there? It's all completely confusing to me so I took a shot, which I hereby upload. Unfortunately a Swedish PC but what you see in the upper left is the USB device (it's a red one called 2313C016735). Down in the middle is the path I followed to try to upload into the device manager and I see no files. To the upper right you se the explorer and what's visible there under uploaded files. Isn't it the msi-file that is the driver? Thanks in advance. Claes

The MIS file is one of the the installer files in your image above, the other files above it are configuration files and the file setup.exe immediately below the MSI file is the actual installer- run this and it will install the driver.

Thanks again! I have run the setup.exe file multiple time, but it doesn't seem to work. I did try it again and paid attention to every step and then I noticed something strange when arriving at the menue "custom setup" where there are 4 options. Three of them have a red X in front of them, which seems to indicate that these features are not available. The top one is then MAGIX USB Videowandler 2 files. The only one without X is EMBDA641. I then clicked that option and got confirmation that it got installed, restarted the computer, but no success this time either.

I went back to the device manager again to see more clues and can see that it identifies the USB device as a “USB 28286 device”, don’t know if that helps? I clicked again for “update drivers”, Windows couldn’t find any drivers and when trying the VideoWandler I’m stuck as before. Are there any more routes to try? Very tricky this.
