Can't burn DVD - MDA error

Hi,

I split my project into two and successfully burned part one. I then tried part two however I get an error saying:

MDA error

I looked at the activity log and got this at the end:

22/07/2015 21:13:31.646:   Step 2 done
22/07/2015 21:13:31.646:   ERROR: PrepareDVDVideoFiles() failed with errNo 5 - encoding failed
22/07/2015 21:13:31.647:   !!! DBK error in BurnProject: 10 - movie encoding failed !!!

When I check if it recognised my DVD it says it is a DVD+R however it is a -R.

What is wrong here? I need to burn a project for a client.

Hi,

First, although it's unlikely, has Video Pro automatically created the video folder? In Movie Edit Pro Premium it's specified in the Folder tab of Program Settings.

If so, burn it from there with another tool. I use the versatile and reliable (free) ImgBurn.

If not then further diagnosis is needed. I'd start by trying to export as an MP4 and noting the exact place that encoding fails. Then closely examine the timeline content of your project directly after that frame. I've then sometimes found a corrupted clip or effect. Often quite obscure, but it can usually then be replaced and the project exported (and burned) successfully.

Nearly 3 weeks since our attempt to help you fix what sounded like an urgent problem.

Feedback would be good.

I fixed this in the end. I think the way I did it was by keeping the movie in one window instead of splitting it into two. It was always the second half that wasnt working.
