Can store photos, albums, database, etc on an external USB hard drive?

Good afternoon,

I have Magix Photo Manager installed on my computer, but I would like to store all the data on an external USB hard drive. Is this possible?

In other words, all the original photos, as well any data generated by Magix (like the albums, database, thumbnails, etc) will be stored on the external hard drive. This is primarily because I have too many photos to keep them all on my local hard drive so I figure I may as well keep all the Magix data on the external drive too.

If not, can I at least keep all the original photos on an external USB hard drive? How will Magix react if it's running without the hard drive attached? Will it delete all the missing photos from it's database or will it just ignore them?

Thanks

Hi

You can put the files anywhere you like, Photo Manager only catalogues where the images are, it does not move, copy or delete files unless you specifically take those actions within the program. .

In the programs settings you can set the root folder location for Photo Manager to use .

Thanks.

Can I only set the root folder when I first run the Photo Manager? I seem to remember seeing those settings but I couldn't find them again later?!

Hi

In Photo Manager the program settings should be under the File, Options (Y key).

The location of the root folder is specified on the Path settings tab of the settings dialog.

Note the naming of the settings and folder tab may be different depending on which version you have.
