Can we assume you mean SFP- 18? I am not aware of any bugs that would cause that behavior. Have you tried exiting SF and restarting? Are you using the 'Normal' editing mode? (Edit> Tools> Edit)
If you are editing a lossy file type like MP3, try enabling, "Always proxy compressed formats" in the "Options> Preferences> General" menu, which can often resolve strange behavior.
btw, welcome to the Magix Sound Forge users community @Jon-Baker.
Sound Forge Pro (or SF Audio) and Sound Forge Audio Cleaning Lab are two entirely different programs. The advice which @rraud gave was for Sound Forge, not Sound Forge ACL. I'm pretty certain the items he lists do not appear in your program.
Your version of SFACL is actually version1, the latest release is version 4 (although the advice from those who run this version is that 3 is "better"). I have 3 so please detail, step by step, exactly what you are doing, what type of files you are working with (.wav, .mp3, etc) and what exactly happens, or doesn't, for you.
Also, please tell us as much as you can about your computer hardware and software.
One other thought: have you tried restarting your computer (Shut down or sign out>Restart). Restarting essentially "resets" all your drivers etc.; shutting down and then starting your computer again does not.
ACL is different from the Sound Forge audio editor. I am not sure it has the 'proxy' option and the menus differ. Having the same 'Sound Forge' name confuses many folks.
Running W10, creating mp3 files first, then I have been deleting run-in and/or run-out if too long. Did about 200 files before it stopped working. Nothing happens on "x" any longer, tho it used to work. I don't know what maybe I changed to cause it to stop working. Eventually I put edited files into Musicmatch 10 (I have 74,000+ files there).
The usual advice is to create .wav files, do your editing etc. on them and once you are happy with how they sound, then convert to mp3.
Will same codes work to download Ver 3?
If you mean will your version 1 serial key work with version 3 then the answer is No, sorry. Each version requires its own, purchased key, though as an owner of an older version you qualify for upgrade pricing. However, I am not sure whether version 3 is still available to buy.
Did you try the suggestion to simply restart your computer when the app seems to stop working?
I have tried restart, etc. I make mp3's in another program, import them, usually eliminate run-in/run-out, and run auto cleaning. This is what I have always done. I won''t mind if I have to purchase another version if it is available. I have run out of other options, I think.
Rather than plunging straight into a purchase which may not resolve the problem you could download and install the trial version of SFACL (admittedly it will be version 4) and see how you get on.
Have you tried bypassing the stage where you make mp3s in another program (presumably they are wavs before you convert them?) and bringing the unconverted files into SFACL, "editing" them there, saving the new versions and then converting them to mp3?
I have downloaded the Ver 4 trial version and it does exactly the same thing. It may be something I am doing that causes it. The markers seem to be set properly, but cut/delete won't do the selected portion. If I cut first, it highlights the entire object and delete removes the entire imported file. An undo puts it back.
I have many older records that are collected and stored in Musicmatch 10 as mp3 files. Rather than re-editing them, I look up a specfic song/artist on You Tube, and convert it to mp3 as I have done for a long time. It has taken a long time (probably about 50 years) to get to where I now am, so I can't start over. I have had to find a way for Musicmatch 10 to function. I have been able to get it to run 32-bit under Oracle VM. I will pick a few songs, convert them back to .wav files and try that, but I don't wish to work with already edited files.
I have downloaded the Ver 4 trial version and it does exactly the same thing
I rather feared that might be the case!
In order to eliminate something in a particular troublesome mp3 file being the cause, can you post one of them to a file sharing site and provide the download link here and I will test it on my system using SFACL3?
Also please give a step by step method which produces the error for you, so I can be sure I'm doing exactly the same process as you.
Also, please tag me (use the @ key - without a space - and you will immediately see my user name. Doing that will ensure I receive a notification that you have replied. Thanks.
Will try to set up file for you. I simply go to files, computer, C:\downloads\share\mps\Audials Music and select normally the last song there, in this case it is Daybreak - Good Morning Freedom, and double click to use the mp3 file. Then I set markers at end, delete run-out, move the markers, delete lead-in, then auto clean, then export (have to add " a" to file name so it will export.
Do you have a sharing site you use? I can probably still use dropbox, but I have not used it in quite some time. I usually use client provided site to upload to.
I have downloaded the file but won't be able to "play" with it until, possibly, Monday. Hope that's OK?
I did have a quick playback of it and noticed some strange audio artefacts. I'm not sure what might be causing them and will need more time to investigate further!
I don't understand exactly what you are doing, especially with the "X." Can you explain in more detail so that I can try to follow. Why do you need to set markers?
I opened the file, put the playback marker just before where the music starts, pressed Z and the beginning part disappears. Go to the end, place the playback marker, U, and the end part is removed.
Alternatively, I set up remove pauses for 1 second, threshold -35 dB and the beginning and ending were removed.
I did 2 files and all was correct using Ver 4, However, can get no removals using same methodology in Ver 1. I am baffled in that it has these same functions. There must be something I have set in the program or a Windows 10 update has created the problem. Do you have any suggestions as to what to look for? Windows 10 has to have a restart after removing an update, but then during the restart installs other updates as well.
i have found a problem. Not sure if it is only one. The playback marker must have the green marker at same location - then it works in Ver 1. I will test more. Thanks for your advice. If there is way to disable green marker or reset it all would be well
