I have been using trial version of MusicMaker 17 Premium. I just bought and received the download version.
Do I have to uninstall the trial version before installing the download version? I was looking at the trial version and thought I might be able to just insert the serial number and save some time. However, I did find and downloaded a patch for it, which is probably not with the trial version.

Trial version full version are different. As you might already have noticed trial version is very limited. It is suppose to give you an idea before you buy full version.
Therefore, when you buy new version uninstall tiral version completely otherwise it will give you problem.
What do I mean By uninstall completely? when you will uninstall trial version in the Program file/Magix also in Application/Prograd Data, User/Public(as in windows vista) folder some files will be left behind(some times)you will have to delete them manually if you can.
After that restart computer and install new version. In case of download version you will receive one confirmation email with download link and other details. Note some contents pack you may need to download after this installation to make your MMM 17 fully functional.

I read on the website where you download the trial verions all I needed to do was fill in the blank Serial number.
I did that and then I was prompted to download a bunch of files in gontent pack.
Now I read your posting and I'm thinking... I may need to uninstall everything.
I appreciate the answer for sure, because I had a lot of problems with MM16.
Now I'm wondering if I'll have trouble with re-initialize software with serial number.
