I am a Music Studio 16 user and I want to collaborate with another musician who will purchase Music Studio 13/14. Are project files transferrable between the two versions, and if so, are they compatible both forwards and backwards.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee compatibility, normally the files should load fine. However, if there are tools or synthesizers involved from the older version that are not in the newer version then problems may occur.
It is also more difficult to open files from a newer version in an older version. Really I would recommend to have the same version of the software.
