Can i sell and commercially release tracks i made on Magix music maker? (currently using Dance Editition 3)

fionn136 wrote on 6/10/2011, 8:27 AM

im part of an electro/industrial band and iv recently been using magix music maker (including sound pool samples) as part of my tracks. Some samples used have been heavily edited and some have not. Im wondering can these tracks legally be released on an album or on itunes ect., as well as preformed live? And would recognition be required?

Thanks

Hi,

You asked a nice question.

Once I also got confirmation with Magix about the

Magix Music Maker Dance Edition 3 (PC DVD) (2009) "

and they said

"the content provided with the products you mentioned is royalty-free. So you can use the audiofiles for commercial work which means you can sell the music produced with these files without any extra licenses."

Thouhg I have copied the answer I will suggest may be someone from Magix will answer you here otherwise you also contact Magix support and when you get their reply keep that in your record after making hard copy(print out).

I am sure you will understand copyright laws are very strict therefore always confirm.

Just note, Music Maker 17 or 17 Premium need extra commercial license. New rules.(correction meant soundpool 17)

Hope this answer will be helpful to you.

Thank you

@nihon94

thats great news

thanks a lot

Just another thing, do you know how to go about getting the licence for 17? and is that for the use of the new samples or the program itself?

thanks

Fionn.

That is not correct.  It is the SOUNDPOOL in MM17 that requires the commercial license, not the program.

Hi,

When I had confirmed the MMM 17 License terms, I was told by Magix that MMM 17 Or MMM 17 Premium is for personal use only. Even we can not use any included sound in commercial work. That is why I am stick with MMM 16 Premium.

But we can buy soundpool 17 with extra license costing US $199.99 from Catooh

http://www.catooh.com/uk/sys/id/Katalog/area/mediaDetails/item_id/222980/

Please click above link then choose Audio Pro Unlimited WAV(you can read license terms)

License is for Soundpool only.

I think you should also check my pdf about soundpool.

If need help send message.

Thank you

As I said, it is ONLY the soundpool that is restricted, not the program itself.  This is an important distinction.

Sorry to say I do not pretend or say myself unless I got anything in written from Magix.

Can you produce me a written statement from Magix what you are saying but I can.

Therefore, I request, if you are not sure do not talk about legal matters that might put someone in problem. I hope you do not mind my comments.

Or if you are Monitor, Moderator or related with Magix in any way then I will say Magix must clear it because every representative talk differently whom should we believe.

Thank you

I'm sorry, but the issue here is not my understanding of the copyright issues.  If you feel you can prove me wrong, then be my guest.

The problem here is twofold...

The first is someone who does not have the appropriate command of the English language trying to interpret and give legal advice.

The other is the issue of MAGIX not CLEARLY DEFINING the rights and restrictions of using their soundpools to their users IN AN EASILY ACCESSIBLE WAY.  The soundpool license rights and restrictions are defined on the CATOOH website.  The EULA clearly defines the rights and restrictions in regards to the software itself.

Popcorn,

Sie sind auf Englisch stolz.

Englisch gehört nach England nicht Sie. Vielen Dank
