Hi and welcome to the forum.

. . . . error message when trying to playback a regular DVD. "Playback prohibited by area limitations . . . .

Is the error message from a regular DVD or Blu-Ray player - if so what TV format is it - PAL or NTSC?

Photostory burns region free discs, so this should not be an issue.

However if Photostory is set to NTSC and the player is PAL (or vice versa), the player it may not be able to play the disc.

If the error is when trying to play the disc on the computer, which software are you using to play the disc and what region is the DVD player set to?

To find the computer drives region setting:

  1. Right click the 'This PC' icon - it may be called my Computer, on the desktop and select Manage
  2. From the left pane select Device Manager
  3. In the right pane select DVD/CD-ROM drives
  4. Right click the drive and select Properties
  5. Select the DVD Region tab to see the current setting.

Welcome to the Magix user to user forums.

The "region" setting for any DVD is actually created by the burner you used and so is not any "wrong" setting within Photostory.

You need to check the region setting of your burner by doing the following:

  1. In My Computer right-click on your DVD burner and choose Properties.
  2. On the screen that opens, click on your burner and then, at the bottom of that screen choose Properties.
This screenshot shows my computer, where I have two disc burners and have highlighted one.
  3. Clicking on Properties then opens this screen:
  4. Click on the highlighted tab and you will find the option to change the region setting for your burner. Just take careful note of the warning that says you can make a maximum of 5 changes to this setting.
