Burning DVD Problems

iblinna wrote on 5/6/2017, 8:11 PM

Hi, I have a problem I hope someone is able to help me with. I have Windows 10 and recently purchased Magix Photostory On CD &DVD 10. I made a slideshow for my son's birthday but when I went to burn it on to a DVD a message popped up and said "a version conflict was detected and the program requires the DLLAV32.DLL version6.1.124or higher" Then it said to load the burning routine update from the magix support page.

For the last 2 hours I have been trying to find the the update but can't get into the support site to do this. The only download I get is the program already installed on my computer.

Can someone please help me? I really need to get this burned for my son.

Thanks so much

Photostory 10 is ways too old and therefore not compatible with Windows 10. You need a later version.

Thanks Markus73. Just my luck,eh? I just bought this from Amazon. When I installed it the compatibly wizard said it was good to go. Which Version do you recommend? I need something easy to use.

Thanks

Hi.

I just bought this from Amazon

I think you should ask for a refund. Or was it advertised as "used"?

The latest version is "Photostory Deluxe", which is available to buy as a download direct from Magix website; the UK page is http://www.magix.com/index.php?id=20771&L=38&AffiliateID=143&phash=UrVQwcGVzkYg8oLR&utm_source=Bing&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=Brand_Product_Photo

Hope this helps.

Jeff

Thanks, it was new software not used. I am planning on contacting Amazon. I just didn't know what version to replace it with. This leads me to another question. How do I save the project so I can just load it to the newer version? Do i save it to the hard drive?

Hi again.

How do I save the project so I can just load it to the newer version? Do i save it to the hard drive?

I think you should be able to open in a new version any project created and saved in your old version so yes, you should save it to your hard drive. Assuming you have only the one hard drive I would create a new folder somewhere on that drive, perhaps in your Documents folder, label it Photostory Projects (or something similar, so you know exactly what the folder contains), give your project a name that will help you to identify exactly what its contents are and save it in that folder.

Once you have your new version you should be able to open your project file without problem. One thing to remember: the project file will NOT contain copies of the actual photographs etc. you have used in your slideshow, only details of which images etc. you have used and where they are currently stored on your computer. So, until you have finished and burned your project to DVD it is essential you do not move, remove or delete ANY image, sound file etc. from your computer or you will not be able to successfully re-open the project in your new version.

Hi

Photostory automatically creates default locations in the Documents folder for projects eg

  • for Photostory 2016 version : Documents\MAGIX\Photostory 2016 Deluxe

  • for Photostory Deluxe: Documents\MAGIX\Photostory Deluxe

As Jeff advises create project folders within the default folder.

Personally I take this to what may be considered extreme, in that all the images, video, audio and project files etc used in the project are stored in the respective folder as shown below, this way everything is together, identifiable and easily backed up.

Note: my Magix folder is located on a second hard drive, if you only have one drive then the Magix folder is as above - unless you have customised the folder locations in the programs settings.

Thanks for the feedback Linda.

Can we assume everything is now resolved for you?

Jeff,

Not completely resolved. I have saved all of my work and will need to buy a newer version. My problem now is finding Photostory Deluxe on disc instead of just downloading it. I live in an area where I don't have high speed internet and I would hate to start the download and loose my connection.

Thanks again

Linda

Linda,

I've just checked this and if you order Photostory Deluxe (I see it's on special offer at the moment), when you click through to confirm your order you should be offered the option to order a "backup CD" of the software. Unfortunately, it is an extra cost but, given your internet speed, it may well be your best option.

Thanks where did you find that?

Linda

emmrecs wrote on 5/9/2017, 12:17 PM

As I wrote before, I simply clicked through to "order" the software and, having put in my name, address etc, the next screen was an order confirmation with an option to add the backup CD.
