Depending on how large the screen is you should try exporting in as High a Resolution of possible. MPEG4 is a good codec and there is some HD export options. 

If you can find specifics on what the festival wants as a format that will also help with your decision. 

Hopefully they want a resolution higher than standard definitions DVD quality.
