Just got a Panasonic AG-AC90 which records to SD Cards in the AVCHD format. When the "AVCHD Import" window comes up, the files on the card show and then immediately disappear. What is going on????
I don't own VPX7, VPX5 is the latest version I have because my system was, until very recently, 32 bit, but I found the easiest way to transfer AVCHD files to computer was to simply drag and drop them to my preferred folder. In other words, with the camera attached by USB to the computer, Windows sees the camera as another drive. Simply find the video files in that "drive" (camera) and copy them to your selected folder on your computer.
Thanks for your response, however, the SD cards record in 4 GB segments, about 15 min. At 1080 p. This has to do with the file system. A one hour program will be broken into 4 clips. Now in order to seamlessly load these into an editor, you must use the editor's AVCHD import function. If you do it the way you suggest (and I Have) there will be a break between each section.
The simple solution to the problem of discontinuity is to find, and download the free TSMuxer 2 program. There is no need to install it, simply unzip the contents to a folder of your choice and then click on the TSMuxerGUI icon.
Then, drag your AVCHD files, in"programme" order, to TSMuxer and have it join your separate files into one seamless file. You have the option to select where the resulting file is stored; I always use the drive and folder that I dedicate to video files for editing. It is an additional step but it does work. I have found the best output format from TSMuxer is M2TS for use in VPX.
