Aspect ratio in Movie Studio 2025

I upgraded to Movie Studio 2025 and now even the most simple tasks are super complicated!

I have been using this software since the first versions of Sony Vegas Studio and have keep using it version after version because the interface was super intuitive and easy to use.

Now, doing simple things like croping the video requires to apply effects, and for the last hour I have been trying to figure out why when the settings of the video are 1920 X 1080 which is a 16:9 ratio, my work window in 1:1 (a square instead of the rectangle that matches the video I am working on).

I have gone through all the menues several times and seached the help file with every term I can imagine and I cannot find how to fix this issue!

Can someone explain how I am supposed to fix this please? I don't want to produce a square video!

"type the letter E" to enter a configuration for video1 (example) that you will use.
For video 2...video 3...you can make different configurations

I suggest you do a "basic" reading of the manual. MMS2025 also produces the same result as VMS and renders reasonably faster.

First of all, you can't and shouldn't compare VEGAS and MAGIX programs. They are two completely different programs. But if you have MMS2025 installed correctly, the preview window will automatically be set to 16:9.

Go to Effects >View/Animation> Section

I think that once you get over your frustration with the way things were handled with the naming of the upgrade, that using MMS will become a little easier. Some had expressed your same frustration, but over time, were able to transition to the new editing software.

There are lots of TUTORIALS and this user forum to help you over the hurdles of learning where things are and how to edit.
