Alpha Channels

So is there some kinda of conspiracy within Magix not to give Video Pro X Alpha Channel recognition. being forced to use the very limited transitions and titling add-ons is annoying. Ive been begging for Alpha channel recognition since VPX 7 and its never an option in the "new version" which is now VPX 14

continually dissappointed

@currysteph

Hi

. . . .  Ive been begging for Alpha channel recognition since VPX 7 and its never an option in the "new version" which is now VPX 14 . . . .

VPX had and still does have the ability to recognise Alpha channel in both video and images. IIRC I had this in VPX4.

The problem is the video or image encoding codec must support Alpha channel.

Two examples of RGBA supporting codecs are AVI RGBA and Quicktime PNG encoding - if in a MOV container file, you do need Quicktime installing.

Many codecs do not support RGBA video eg AVC/h.264.

HEVC/h.265 does support Alpha channel, however, AFAICS this is only supported on MACS.

Download and install MediaInfo and analyse one of the clips that has alpha however does not work, and post the results, see this tutorial on how to setup MediaInfo and analyse a video clip for all the data required.

I will close your previous topic on this issue which was never answered.
