Adding videos to web site

Michael-Schaefer wrote on 3/28/2021, 7:28 PM

I have followed instructions for adding videos to a website I am creating using Web Designer Premium, however, I am having problems. What do I need to do that is not covered in the tutorial? BTW, the site is for promoting short videos for marketing purposes, so the 'Gallery' should provide examples of videos as opposed to still images. Thank you.

Hi

. . . . What do I need to do that is not covered in the tutorial?  . . . .

What do you want them to do or what is not happening that you think should be?

. . . . the 'Gallery' should provide examples of videos as opposed to still images . . . .

Which 'gallery' are you referring to - AFAIK all the galleries for Web Designer are for images only

Do note that modern browsers by default disable Autoplay of video, this is out of your control, however as soon as the viewer clicks on page the video will start if set to do so in the Web properties for the video.

If there are multiple videos on a page then they should be set not to Autoplay.

Thank you John,

Forgive my ignorance, I was using the Gallery page I added to show examples of short videos. I thought I was following the instructions for adding them. The tutorial said it was a simple drag & drop. Is there another way to post video examples and do I have to publish the site before I can see how they look? The entire reason for this particular site is to show videos. If this is not possible without knowing coding I need to find another solution. Thank you. Michael

Hi Michael

You can drag and drop the video directly on to the web page in Web Designer and positioned sized to create what looks like a gallery. Do ensure that they are not set to autoplay.

Note: for maximum cross browser compatibility the video should be mp4 h.264/AVC encoded and must be streamable for a quick start.

The software that was used to create the videos may have this option, if not there is a small utility called MP4 FastStart that can do this to existing MP4 files.

John,

Thank you so much. The videos are supposed to be designed for cross-over to all platforms, however, I will now be able to check for this to make sure. I will let you know the results. Working on several projects so not being able to do this was frustrating, especially since I was not able to spend a lot of time on the fix and therefore not finding a solution.

Thanks again.

John,

Thanks. Need to go over it a few times and try it to make sure I understand it all, but it is quite helpful.
