Adding A Beam of light.

How can I add a beam of light or spotlight effect with movie edit pro plus 15?
Any help is much appreciated.

First, create an alpha-mask as shown in pic. 1.
Move it to the timeline.
Go to Effects > Chroma Key > select Alpha.
Click on the arrow in the highlighted object to make it point upwards (pic. 2).
Adjust the video levels as you need them (pic. 3).
Using Size, Position, Zoom etc. it can be further adapted.
