Trying to get an activation code and asking for the computer ID. I don't know what this is. Can somebody help me figure out what a computer ID is? Thank you.

Are you trying to register the software offline? If so then a dialog should have appeared giving you the computer ID.
If you wish to register the software offline when the program starts the registration dialog should have an option to register offline / by phone or by email select this and then follow the dialogs.
I you are trying to register online then it is possible the registration process cannot connect to the Internet - check that you can browse the Internet using Internet Exlorer.
Check also that your firewall software is allowing Photostory to connect to the Internet.
