Acid Pro 6 render problem - no bass / low end

Rendering problem - Hi, my rendered files have no bass/low end. I've tried deleting tracks, I've tried with and w/o "render loop region", I've tried rendering to wav and mp3 - none of these fixed the problem.

I'm using a Dell laptop with Windows 7 pro.

Does it preview okay when played directly from the timeline?

Is the low end missing across the entire arrangement, or possibly only affecting a track or two of low-end content?

First thing that comes to mind is an unnoticed effect, perhaps on the Master Bus.

That's a good idea, but it does preview okay; but when I compare the timeline to the rendered file (which windows media player cannot open until I close Acid pro), the low end is missing. I've tried opening the rendered file with another application and it is the same. I've also rendered to a new track and the rendered track is quieter and has less bass.

I don't know what a bus is, what it does, or why I would need it. However, I do use DFH Superior Drum VSTi and it requires a lot of mixer channels for various mics on different drums.

Here is a new clue - audacity's recordings also have no bass, so I'm thinking there is something possibly outside Acid pro affecting recording/rendering processes.

What source are you using?

What audio device are you listening with - the laptop speakers, earphones/headphones, external speakers?

Check that Windows audio does not have any sound effects applied.

What are you trying to record and how - what steps do you take to try and record ?

To check there are no Windows audio effects applied:

Right click the loudspeaker bottom right of the Windows screen and select Playback devices
Select Properties - 1 in image below
Select the Enhancements tab - 2 in image below
Ensure there are no selected options in the area indicated by 3 in the image below.
